North Judson Parents and Community Members Encouraged to Join Bluejay Strategic Planning Group

North Judson-San Pierre Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin issued her annual call-out for Bluejay Strategic Planning Group members at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. She provided a bit of information about what the expectations of the group are.

Substitutes Interested in Teaching at NJ-SP Are Invited to Attend This Week’s Information Session

Returning substitute teachers and those interested in subbing are invited to attend an information session at North Judson-San Pierre tomorrow.

The community’s substitutes are being asked to come to the Bluejay Meeting Room at the North Judson-San Pierre Middle School at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in order to learn more about working for the NJ-SP school corporation. Continue reading

North Judson-San Pierre Superintendent Delivers Capital Project Update

Projects at the North Judson-San Pierre Schools are coming along nicely, according to Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin.

During the superintendent’s report Tuesday night, Dr. Zupin shared some of the progress that’s been made thus far. She said that lighting work is nearly complete, with the company pulling some of their workers at this point. The only areas that still need to be finished are the atrium and auditorium. North Judson-San Pierre School Board Considers Salaries and Contracts

When North Judson-San Pierre school board members met Tuesday night, various contracts and salaries were up for approval.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin shared that the non-certified salary schedule was updated to include $8 per hour as the starting rate and the number of categories listed was reduced in order to make payroll and HR matters less complicated. Continue reading

Employee and Student Handbooks Approved by NJSP School Board

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members approved the certified and non certified employee handbooks Tuesday night.

In the certified employee handbook, some information was included about the teacher evaluation process and the section on child abuse reporting was amended to match the new state law. The non-certified handbook also addressed the new policy on child abuse reporting and provided some clarification about holidays and unpaid days. With both handbooks, some changes were made to assist with organization and clarity. Continue reading

NJSP School Board Holds Hearing Over $1.1 Million General Obligation Bonds

North Judson-San Pierre school board members took a few major steps in the General Obligation Bond process at their Tuesday night meeting.

A public hearing was held over the proposed bond issuance, which will be for a total of $1.1 million. Curt Pletcher from Umbaugh provided a general overview of the bond process, explaining that it will take the place of the 2006 bonds that will soon be retired. Continue reading

North Judson-San Pierre School Board Approves Dean of Students positions at Elementary and Jr.-Sr. High Schools

The North Judson-San Pierre Elementary and Jr.-Sr. High Schools will each have a Dean of Students starting in the 2018-2019 school year, following the school board’s approval of the two new personnel positions during their meeting Tuesday night.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said that school board members, teachers, and administrators have been discussing staffing for the last several months. She said after speaking with faculty, she realized there were a few matters that were consistently brought up. Continue reading

North Judson-San Pierre School Board to Consider General Obligation Bond

North Judson-San Pierre Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin recently informed school board members that the school’s existing debt is about to drop significantly in 2019. First covered during their work session on April 4th, Zupin reviewed the matter during last Tuesday’s school board meeting.

She said in order to maintain the school’s current rate, additional debt has to be taken on.

She explained, “The debt service fund is for annual debt obligations and really is helpful for schools because it’s a way for us to maintain our school facilities, buy some equipment and make sure that we have what our students need.” Continue reading

North Judson-San Pierre School Board Reviews Corporation Plans

North Judson-San Pierre School Board members considered multiple corporation plans on first reading when they met this week.

In early April, a work session was held to establish what to include in the school’s technology, wellness and strategic and accountability plans. When members met on Tuesday, Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin reviewed the content with board members.

North Judson-San Pierre School Board Holds First Readings Over Employee Handbook Revisions

North Judson-San Pierre School Board members held the first readings over the revisions to the certified and non-certified handbooks when they met Tuesday night.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin shared that the certified handbook is a fairly recent addition, as state laws changed what is allowed to be included in the master contract for teachers. She noted, “The teacher contract can only have monetary issues but there are a lot of things to answer outside of what is monetary and so a handbook was created and we just need to update those.” Continue reading

North Judson-San Pierre School Board members will receive information about the General Obligation Bond Resolution when they meet tonight at 7 p.m.

North Judson-San Pierre School Board Covers Corporation Plans and Graduation Pathways

When the North Judson-San Pierre School Board met in a work session on Wednesday, members reviewed the corporation’s technology, wellness, accountability and strategic plans. Those plans will all be up for approval at the May board meeting.

She said it’s important to recognize that the individual history of our North Judson Schools and the individual history of San Pierre Schools helped mold the corporation into what it is today.
