Security at the Pulaski County Courthouse will continue to be discussed by the county council and commissioners tonight. The commissioners have limited access to a single point of entry which now will be renovated by local locksmiths 365 professionals to grant easier access and also called for the addition of security guards.

Pulaski County Council Votes to Support Courthouse Renovation Plan

A plan to renovate the Pulaski County Courthouse and expand the Justice Center has gotten the support of the county council, but not without a few concerns. Back in December, the county commissioners agreed to pursue a project that would restore the courthouse and install a security checkpoint, but move Circuit Court to the Justice Center. On Monday, the county council voted six-to-one to support the project and try to fund it.

Pulaski County Council to Continue Discussing Courthouse Renovation Tonight

The proposed renovation of the Pulaski County Courthouse and expansion of the Justice Center will continue to be discussed during tonight’s county council meeting. The estimated $7.7 million project would add a security checkpoint to the north entrance of the courthouse, while Circuit Court would move out of the building and into an expanded Justice Center.

Pulaski County Election Board Finalizing Plans for Early Primary Voting

The Pulaski County Election Board is finalizing plans for early primary voting. Clerk JoLynn Behny explains, “Early voting will start in Pulaski County at the Justice Center on April 7. And the two Saturdays before [Election Day], we’ll be open, and then the two Saturdays before the election, we’ll have early voting set up in Francesville, as well.”

Pulaski County Officials Consider Architect, Financial Advisor, Bond Counsel for Courthouse Project

Pulaski County officials are planning their next steps, when it comes to the renovation of the courthouse and expansion of the Justice Center. During a joint session with the county council Monday, the commissioners agreed to ask Rowland Design for a quote for final design work, since the company already did the preliminary plans.
