Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged in Connection with Bribery Scheme Involving Knox Business

A Lake County Sheriff’s Police deputy has been arrested, amid allegations that he accepted money to fill out salvage vehicle inspection forms for a Knox business. Louis Vasquez is accused of accepting cash for completing at least 42 of the documents for Fast Import Cars, LLC between September 2017 and November 2018, according to Indiana State Police. Officers say that’s against Lake County Police Department policy and Indiana Code.

Autopsy Findings Released for Victim of Salvage Yard Accident

Marshall County Coroner William Cleavenger released the preliminary autopsy finds in last week’s fatal accident at an auto salvage facility in Plymouth.

Forty six year old Brian Lehiy died of injuries that were consistent with positional traumatic asphyxiation when a car fell on him while working at the salvage yard. Lehiy was an employee of the business where the incident occurred Wednesday.
