Officers from several Starke County law enforcement agencies assisted in the apprehension of a man at a Koontz Lake residence on an out-of-county robbery warrant. They responded to a home in the 7700 block of Tippecanoe Drive this morning to arrest 30-year-old Cody Cooley on a warrant from Dearborn County. Judge Sets Trial for Man Accused of Fleeing from Cops
A Grovertown man who is accused of backing his car into a Starke County Sheriff’s Deputy following a high-speed chase will go to trial next month on charges stemming from that incident.
Starke Circuit Judge Kim Hall yesterday rejected a second guilty plea from 35-year-old Paul Coffin. He’s charged with possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle dangerously while intoxicated and possession of pseudoephedrine by a meth offender in connection with the Sept. 3 incident on U.S. 30 at 1100 East. K-9 Aids in Arrest of Unruly Nude Man
An unruly, naked man was taken to IU Health Starke Hospital for treatment and a mental evaluation after being arrested with help from Starke County Sheriff’s K-9 Terror. Officers responded just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday to a report of a naked man running around a yard in the 6000 north block of 900 East. Starke County Commissioners Approve Use of Force Policy for Community Corrections
Starke County Community Corrections officers who choose to undergo initial and continuing education training can carry firearms on duty after action Monday by the Starke County Commissioners. Program Coordinator Shawn Mattraw says the community corrections board approved a use of force policy, which was also reviewed by county attorney Marty Lucas.

Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies responding to a tip about possible drug activity made an arrest Sunday morning. They got a report around 10:45 a.m. of a man in a woods with a rifle and a strong chemical odor nearby. Starke County Investigators Find Two Meth Labs, Suspect At Large
Investigators from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a Knox man they believe was was making meth in his basement. They responded to a home in the 3000 east block of 200 South in Knox on Tuesday, May 5 after another man found a meth lab in the basement and called the police. Deputies from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office found the lab, precursors used to make meth, syringes and marijuana but were unable to locate the suspected cook, according to a news release.
