Victims of Fatal U.S. 20 Crash Identified, As Investigation Continues

Police have released the names of the two people killed in a crash on U.S. 20 Friday night. Don Kaczmarek, 47, and his wife Angie Kaczmarek, 49, of Michigan City were killed, when a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by Tron Gorbonosenko, 40, of New Carlisle reportedly crashed head-on into their Honda Odyssey. It happened around 7:40 p.m. Friday near Bootjack Road, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

LaPorte County Road Work Set for Next Week

 

Road work is planned in La Porte County next week to increase safety on U.S. 20.

Indiana Department of Transportation crews will install rumble strips on U.S. 20 between U.S. 35 and the U.S. 20 and State Road 2 intersection. Officials say engineers found a way to use equipment and resources from a nearby project on State Road 39 to install this safety enhancement on the heavily traveled highway.

Turkey Struck by Vehicle in LaPorte County, Gets Stuck in Windshield

A family driving through LaPorte County ended up with a wild turkey stuck in the windshield of their rental vehicle Tuesday morning. Deputies with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office believe a black GMC Yukon was heading westbound on U.S. 20 near Wilhelm Road when it hit a large tom turkey that was flying across the road.
