A grant has been awarded by the Kankakee Valley REMC Roundup program that will go to support area children in need.
That program is funded by individuals choosing to increase their monthly electric bill to the next highest dollar amount through the utility service provider. The round-up program has given back over one-million dollars to local non-profit organizations.
As part of those charitable efforts, it was announced last week that $5-thousand has been awarded to the Kid’s Closet Ministry, based in North Judson. The non-profit has served 1-thousand Starke County youth in the form of clothing, school supplies, and other materials to help them focus on educational attainment.
According to a press release from Kankakee Valley REMC, the Kid’s Closet program will use the funds to purchase those items and expand their outreach.
Kid’s Closet Ministry serves children from birth through age 17.
