Detectives and patrol deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office are taking to the streets three weeks after a fatal hit-and-run accident in hopes of solving the crime. They will be passing out flyers at the intersection of U.S. 421 and U.S. 30 in Wanatah this afternoon. That’s where Shawn Ellen Rybicki was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday, May 25. Investigators say the crash occurred between 1:55 and 2:15 p.m. Sheriff’s officials will be canvassing the area today between 1:45 and 2:45 p.m.
They hope by doing so the flyers may end up in the hands of travelers who come through the area during the same day of the week and time period. Anyone with information about the May 25th crash can contact the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 219-326-7700.
