The North Judson-San Pierre School Board will meet tonight for the first time since a local businessman asked members to voluntarily step down. Matt Bailey made that request at the May board meeting, saying it’s the easiest way to establish an elected board. He adds he’s prepared to bring the matter to a referendum should it be necessary. Most school boards in Indiana are elected.
Bailey’s request is not addressed specifically on the advance agenda. It is more focused on preparing for the start of the 2016-17 school year. Action items include setting textbook fees and salaries for transportation, non-certified, non-instructional salaries and administrative employees.
The school board will also discuss the non-certified handbook for 2016-17, adopt accounting policies recommended by the state and approve projects with Indianapolis-based Performance Services to address energy savings.
Tonight’s North Judson-San Pierre School Board meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the central office.
