Knox Board of Public Works Accepts Bid for Henry Drive Extension Project

The Knox Board of Public Works discussed the Henry Drive Extension Project during their meeting Wednesday.

Last month, the board of works opened both bids received in efforts to have the project done. The first bid came from Rieth Riley with a base bid of $176,217.25. Alternate bids were submitted in the amount of $26,460 for alternate one and $40,000 for alternate two. The second bid received came from J D Excavating with the base bid being $127,180. The first alternate bid from J D Excavating came in at $34,965 and the second came in at $22,000. The bids were then taken under advisement.

On Wednesday, it was announced after looking into the bids received, the lowest bid minus the alternates, was the best choice for the city. City of Knox Mayor Dennis Estok stated this would put the total amount for the lowest bid at $112,215 from J D Excavating. A motion was made to accept the lowest bid received from J D Excavating. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote. It was noted the Henry Drive Extension project should be complete by September of this year.
