The Starke County Commissioners discussed who to appoint as the Interim Chief Deputy Auditor during their meeting Monday.
In a previous meeting, the commissioners approved a five year contract for Rachel Oesterreich to become the new Starke County Highway Superintendent. She was previously appointed as the interim superintendent while she continued her duties as Starke County Auditor. Her last day as auditor was June 30.
Oesterreich told WKVI News the Governor of Indiana will send a letter to Starke County Democratic Party Chairman Lonnie Boley to have a caucus held in effort to fill Oesterreich’s remaining term that ends December 31, 2026.
On Monday, Commissioner Charles Chesak made a motion to appoint Deputy Auditor Sara Dingman as the Interim Starke County Chief Deputy Auditor. Commissioner Mark Gourley seconded that motion and the commissioners voted unanimously approving Sara Dingman.
