The North Judson Building Authority has met with the owner of the Blue Bird Hotel, 523 Lane Street. Nies Engineering did a study on the building and pronounced it unsafe and has recommended the structure be demolished.
The owner, Pavel Rohatonovice of Knox, has been instructed to meet again with the authority in 60 days to let them know if he is going to bring the building up to an approved level, or demolish it.
The two story building was popular during the early days of railroading in North Judson, as railroad employees found it a comfortable place to stay during layovers.
