The West Central High School was recently named a Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education.
“We’re very happy this accomplishment was made,” said Superintendent Charles Mellon. “It actually reflects back to the 2009-2010 school year. I just sent an email out to the staff congratulating them, as well as the students, for this accomplishment.”
Mr. Mellon explains the criteria in which they were selected for this honor.
“We have to be in the top 25 percent passing both Language Arts and Math in the End of Course Assessments. They look at our AYP, or Adequate Yearly Progress, accomplishments as well. We were a Commendable School in that category so these things tie together.”
John Glenn High School and Webster Elementary School in the Plymouth Community School Corporation were two other schools in the area who were also named Four Star Schools.
