Representatives of Indiana University Health Starke Hospital will meet next week with members of the Starke County Board of Commissioners and the County Council to discuss the future and continued use of the facilities leased from the County. The current lease expires in 2016.
“We are committed to be here, we want to stay here, but we also know that improvements are going to have to be made along the way, particularly in relationship to the building” stated hospital CEO Linda Satkoski.
The Vice President of Operations, David Hyatt, says the hospital has been working with a consulting firm discussing numerous possibilities for improvements
at the Culver Road location and other options.
“It could range anywhere from major mechanical upgrades to this facility, to an expansion of the current facility or even construction of a new hospital,” said Hyatt. “That could be at a new site or at the current site. We’re really reviewing all the options, but we want to make sure we get the experts in so we know exactly what we need to do going forward and we can share that information with the County.”
Members of the hospital Board of Trustees will be in attendance for this, the first of several meetings to be held with county government officials over the next 12 months. The public is invited to attend.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 26th, in the Courthouse Annex meeting room.
