The members of the Knox Board of Works opened bids this week for the million dollar Storm Water Project. The bid for the work will be “let” in about a week after being reviewed by the City attorney and Territorial Engineers.
According to city officials, the work should begin the latter part of August or the first part of September.
The City received a grant from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs in the amount of $837,095.00. The city will contribute a $166,005 dollar match from the EDIT fund.
Work will be done from Portland Street west to the Railroad tracks, South Portland St., John St. to Prettyman St. and East St. to New York St.
Territorial Engineers determined that these were the worst areas for standing water on Knox Streets.
