The Pulaski County website was recently hacked, and Nathan Origer from the CDC approached the Commissioners with an idea to prevent it from happening again.
Origer recently requested a quote from Golden Technologies in Valparaiso for security upgrades to address some obvious security issues on the website. Golden Technologies handled most of the work of building the website originally, and they also host and maintain the website for the county.
“Ideally, this will make the website more secure. It was built a number of years ago on a much older platform, so it needs some serious upgrading up on the platforms,” said Origer.
The estimated cost for the upgrade is between $900 and $1,800, depending on the number of hours of work required before it is secure. The website upgrade cost will come from the Professional Services budget, which has more than enough money to cover this expense. The Commissioners approved Origer’s request, and the county website will soon get the security it needs.
