Ancilla College’s annual recognition dinner will be on October 6th on the campus of the school at Donaldson, Indiana.
Betty Chesak will be honored as the Sister Mary D. award winner and Charles Weaver will receive the Ancilla Award. This award is given to an individual who is a community leader who has demonstrated service and commitment to Ancilla and the community.
“Charlie has been a long time member of the Ancilla College Board and he’s been on our Board many times in the last 20 years or so,” said Dr. May. “We are very appreciative of his service to the college, his commitment to the college and his advocacy on behalf of the college everyday.”
Weaver talks about his love of Ancilla.
“I have virtually, from 1975, or something like that, served but three or four years on the Board of Trustees of Ancilla College,” said Weaver. “It’s an institution that’s near and dear to my heart. There is no more nurturing and helpful place for a student, whether they be a traditional student just getting out of high school or non-traditional student, than Ancilla College. That college was designed to be Starke County’s community college.”
Weaver told WKVI News that he would like to remember two people, his father Edmond, and his former boss, Orville Nichols. Weaver said that his father instilled the idea that you must become involved in whatever community you live in. Orville Nichols was instrumental in getting Weaver involved with Ancilla College.
