The Community Services of Starke County staff is gearing up for the winter season. Cooler weather is right around the corner and they will soon be taking applications for energy assistance to households that meet income guidelines.
Applications will be mailed by the end of September to households that were in the program last year. Other low-income households will need to make an appointment. Last year, assistance was given to over 1,100 families in Starke County. State and Federal monies put out to help these families with energy assistance totaled $443,000.
More details on the program will be available after October 15th. For more information, call Cecilia Torres at (574) 772-9036. The program will not start until November.
