The Eastern Pulaski School Board placed Superintendent Dr. Robert Klitzman on contractual probation for the next year. The Board has agonized over what disciplinary action to take following Dr. Klitzman’s arrest for operating a vehicle with an alcohol content over the legal limit in July.
The Superintendent called the whole matter “humbling” and vowed to follow the Board’s action.
“I think the School Board took their time and did a lot of discussion and debating and thought the best thing for the Corporation, and myself, would be a disciplinary measure of a probationary period for myself in which there would be certain requirements placed upon me which are very fair,” said Dr. Klitzman. “Board President, Mr. Beach, then indicated that it’s time to worry about our kids’ education and the real reason why we’re here. I certainly reiterate that. We’ll focus on student learning and it’s time to move on. It’s been a very learning experience for me, humbling, and I appreciate the many, many folks who have expressed support, understanding and compassion. It’s one of the great things about Eastern Pulaski Schools and certainly the community we live in.”
