Emergency personnel participated in Emergency Vehicle Operator Training (EVOC) on Sunday at the Washington Township Fire Department. The participants had classroom instruction and course training.
The training was facilitated by Tom Champion from Terre Haute who provides this training to several departments throughout the state.
“The Emergency Vehicle Operations Course is designed to assist fire departments in the local area and across the state and nation with safe driving practices and brings them up to date on different laws, different procedures and things they need to know to increase safety for the general public,” said Champion. “The whole point of the training is accident prevention, to prevent apparatus form wrecking into civilian vehicles, and to prevent civilian vehicles from driving into fire trucks.”
