Knox Mayor Rick Chambers recently received the new Waste Management contract and presented it to the Knox City Council. Waste Management is the City’s contracted waste hauler for household trash and recycling. According to Mayor Chambers, he is working with Attorney David Matsey on the legalities of extending that contract without rebidding.
“Waste Management has made has made many changes to that contract,” said Mayor Chambers. “They’ve put a weight limit on the bags. Before, we had a three 30-gallon bag limit. Now, there’s a weight restriction on those bags. Before, they would accept grass clippings and now they will not. There are numerous changes and I’ll have Dave look over the contract and get back with you.”
