The West Central School Board got an update from the Technology Committee at their recent meeting. The Board has wrapped up many of the Capital Projects it had planned for the year and now they can focus on technology. Superintendent Charles Mellon said that policies on social networking are being explored which includes cell phone use, Facebook usage and email. Other avenues are being researched as well.
“The other area was getting the building to be able to handle wireless services,” said Superintendent Mellon. “Of course there’s some expense there and once to get into that phase, then we can do with the one-to-one computing which means that each child would have a computer that their textbooks would be on rather than having a textbook. There are a lot of corporations that are completely K-12 now with that service. We are looking into all of those and we’ll continue to keep to the Board informed.”
