The members of the Knox Community School Board reorganized at their meeting Monday night. Harold Welter was retained as Board President, Mary Lynn Ritchie was retained as Vice President and Jerry Fletcher was retained as Secretary. William Satterlee III, from Hoeppner, Wagner and Evans in Valparaiso, will continue as the Board’s legal counsel.
During the Spotlight on Success portion of the meeting, the Board viewed a promotional video put together by Middle School students Colin Kulpa and Jason Christopher. Technology Coach, Chris Ross, helped the students with the final touches but Superintendent A.J. Gappa said the students did the majority of the work.
“These two students from the Middle School put together a video and they produced it themselves, they wrote the script, they took pictures that highlight activities at all three buildings, some of the academic successes and some of the classes that are kind of unique to Knox,” said Superintendent A.J. Gappa. “One of those programs is our Graphic Arts program at the High School, where they produce a lot of different materials and they keep expanding. They showed the Auto Tech program at the SCILL Center, which is one of the vocational programs, and different award programs. It just showed the highlights in a fun way.”
“They also highlighted some of the technical improvements and advancements we made like iPads at the Elementary School and the one-to-one computer program in grades six through twelve. As a matter of fact, one of the students made a statement at the end that this whole production was put together on their Macbook.”
Mr. Ross will work on the promotional video a little further and it may be uploaded to the Corporation’s website for the public to see the positive influences at the Knox Community School Corporation.
