The North Judson Town Board commended the officers with the Police Department and the firemen with the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department for their coordinated efforts in the events surrounding Spc. Robert Tauteris Jr.’s funeral at the Braman and Bailey Funeral Home in North Judson on Sunday.
Tauteris’ body was transported from Valparaiso to North Judson on Saturday and during the procession, a two vehicle accident occurred on U.S. 30 and one of the vehicles burst into flames. Tim Jackson and Todd Jackson from the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department were two of the firemen first on the scene and if they hadn’t reacted so quickly, the incident could have turned deadly. Those injured in the vehicle were rescued from the burning wreckage and sent to area hospitals. The Board commended them on their outstanding efforts.
