The Pulaski County Health Department is working with VaxCare to administer a program that will allow the Department to continue vaccinating insured patients.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced last year that the Immunization Program would no longer support insured patients. This practice will be effective March 1st of this year for some health departments.
VaxCare is a preventative healthcare provider specializing in immunization services. Pulaski County Health Nurse, Andrea Keller, said they will be supplying the vaccines and the equipment to administer the vaccines and they will also handle the insurance billing and will bill clients for the required insurance charges. Keller said the Health Department will be checking for insurance eligibility checks before patients are vaccinated.
When you make your vaccination appointment, have your health plan ID number ready and insurance cards will be required at the time of your appointment. This transition is to begin the middle of February. The Health Department will continue to bill Medicaid for eligible patients.
Immunization Days at the Pulaski County Health Department are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00-Noon and 1:00-4:00 p.m. ET by appointment. Call (574) 946-6080.
