The Starke County Plan Commission will meet tonight. On the agenda is an item that has drawn much interest in the past. Betty Dotlich has been before the Commission, BZA and County Commissioners trying to get a structure removed from a property. Dotlich claims the home does not meet code for its location.
“At this point, I think our main goal is to get the county codes enforced and the state codes enforced and to show the county that this structure doesn’t belong where it’s sitting at this point. It’s illegally placed on the lot,” said Dotlich.
Dotlich described the type of home that is on the property.
“It’s a manufactured office trailer. Our zoning ordinances do not allow for that to be placed on an agricultural or residential lot where it currently sits. None of the codes that I can find seem to allow for it to be converted to anything other than what it is currently.”
Dotlich has claimed to represent a number of people in the area who also want the structure removed.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the County Annex Building.
