A Plymouth man who lead police on a pursuit in Mishawaka and South Bend Tuesday will be in court today to face several charges.
Duane Longacre, 27, has been charged with two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Precursors, Possession of Two or More Precursors, Motor Vehicle Theft and Carrying a Handgun without a Permit. He has two $5,000 bonds and he is in the St. Joseph County Jail.
He will appear in court this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET in South Bend to enter a plea on those charges.
Longacre fled from police Tuesday after police found him driving a stolen vehicle. Police attempted a traffic stop, but Longacre kept going. He allegedly threw items out of his car during the chase. He lost control of his vehicle along Wilson Boulevard and his car went airborne, hit a tree and landed in the St. Joseph River. Police arrested him after trying to flee in the river.
