Changes in state funded vaccines has changed operations at the Starke County Health Department.
Health Nurse Frank Lynch says that as of February 1st, the Health Department will no longer be able to provide vaccinations for those who have private insurance that covers vaccines.
If you are unsure if your insurance provider covers vaccines, contact your employer or insurance carrier and ask which vaccines are covered. If your insurance covers vaccinations, talk to your health care provider about your children’s immunizations or contact the Health Department at 772-9137.
Vaccinations will be given to children at the Health Department if that child is part of the Medicaid program, has no health insurance coverage, is American Indian or Native Alaskan, or is underinsured. If you have private insurance that does not cover a certain vaccine or any vaccines, you may still take your child to the Health Department for vaccinations.
