Bass Lake resident, Patti Bush, appeared before the Starke County Commissioners yesterday to defend the owners of the Bass Lake Beach and Campground. At the January meeting, there had been some discussion of year-round parking of campers at the campground. The commissioners discussed whether it should be allowed.
After Bush spoke of what the Callahan family had done with the beach and campground, the commissioners added further praise. Commissioner Dan Bridegroom said he had been in conversation with Brian Callahan and was very impressed with his upcoming plans.
Bridegroom said that Callahan talked about painting to spruce up the appearance and adding new picnic tables.
He said that Callahan also said year-round rental is at a minimum and asked if his corporation and the county could work closer in the future.
Commissioner Jennifer Davis said she felt that there is no adversarial feelings on the part of any of the commissioners and she personally is looking forward to seeing the beach and campground flourish.
