The Memories Reception Hall at 401 East Jefferson Street in Plymouth will be the site of a Celebrate and Support Our Troops event Thursday, April 19th.
Jan Houin, from Operation Quiet Comfort, tells us about the organization and the event.
“We’re a volunteer organization and our mission is to honor and comfort those military men and women who have been injured while serving in harms way. We try to provide medical support for those who care for them,” Houin said.
We asked Jan how they accomplish their mission.
”We do that by sending care packages. Everything we send now is going to Afghanistan. We send things that can be of comfort to them.”
Jan explained how the organization knows what to send and when it’s needed.
“We have a person in our organization who is in contact with the various units. We try to send what they need, when they need it.”
Jan talks about the dinner and program.
“The meal will be a pulled pork dinner with all the trimmings, and there will also be a program. We’ll be telling you what we do. There will be military people there who will share how much the things that Quiet Comfort does is needed by the troops. We’ll have many displays of all the different things that we send from blue jean quilts to hygiene kits. It will be a show and tell of all the things Quiet Comfort does.”
Individual tickets are $15.00 or you can reserve a table for 8 at $125.00. For more information, call Jan Houin at (574) 936-1424.
