Tomorrow is Doctor’s Day, but a recognition breakfast will be held today at IU Health Starke Hospital. David Hyatt, Vice President of Operations at the hospital, talked with us earlier in the week about the doctors here.
“We look upon Doctor’s Day as a time to honor and recognize the physicians that are really providing the care here,” said Hyatt. “We realize that without our dedicated physicians we wouldn’t have a hospital and would be traveling a lot further for health care.”
Hyatt adds that today’s breakfast will be a great way to honor the staff.
“It’s our way to say thank you to all of the physicians and their office employees.”
Hyatt complemented the medical staff for helping attract others to the community.
“Most small rural hospitals don’t have the services we have here. The medical staff has gone above and beyond to make sure that we have the services. We’ve probably attracted over 50 physicians to Starke County to provide services locally so the residents don’t have to travel long distances for routine care.”
Tomorrow on Doctor’s Day, we’ll hear from two of the 125 physicians that provide services in 26 specialties to the residents.
