Two Monon residents were arrested after a traffic stop on U.S. 421 and County Road 300 South.
Pulaski County police say they asked Tammy Mason to exit her vehicle and she was unsteady on her feet. She had to brace herself on the vehicle to walk and talk to police. She agreed to participate in several sobriety tests which she reportedly failed. She also reportedly submitted to a Portable Breath Test which registered .194 BAC. She was arrested on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated with a BAC of .15% or greater, and Operating While Intoxicated-Endangering, both misdemeanor charges.
Doug Mason, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was asked if he had a ride home and he said that he could find a ride. He asked why police had pulled them over and told police not to ruin Tammy Mason’s birthday. He was reportedly becoming argumentative and told Mason that he was under arrest for Public Intoxication and he said, “no way”. He reached toward the center console and aggressively picked up Tammy Mason’s purse. The officer feared he was reaching for a weapon. The officer pulled Mason’s arm in an attempt to keep him from reaching into the purse and remove him from the vehicle. Mason jerked his arm and rendered the officer off-balance. The officer then reached for his taser and deployed it. After the darts struck Mason, he then complied and was taken into custody.
Douglas Mason was arrested on preliminary charges of Public Intoxication and Resisting Law Enforcement.
