The North Judson-San Pierre School Board got an update on how the third grade students performed on the state mandated IREAD test. This is a new test and if the students do not pass the test the first time, they will have a second chance in the summer. If the student cannot pass the test the second time, the child will be held back to retake the third grade reading class.
“84 percent of our third graders passed the IREAD test,” said Superintendent Lynn Johnson. “We are very pleased with that. We will be offering summer remediation in partnership with the Starke County Youth Club to allow students to have another opportunity this summer to take the test.”
The Board also recognized a graduating senior.
“John Eckert was recently named to the 2012 First Team Academic All-State,” Mrs. Johnson continued. “We’re very pleased with that recognition on behalf of John. He is a National Merit Scholar and was also one of the finalists for the Lilly grant. He’s a wonderful student and athlete.”
