The West Central School Board members discussed Reduction in Force efforts at their recent meeting. Superintendent Charles Mellon said it’s not as bad as they had initially thought.
“There’s been enough retirements and declining enrollment and positions so we are down to just one position that we’re not filling,” said Mr. Mellon. “That person received a letter saying that the Board would consider this as a final move at our May 17th Board meeting.”
Mr. Mellon was asked what position was cut.
“It’s a Middle School science position and basically that was because we went into a non-departmentalized setting for sixth grade rather than a departmentalized setting so that eliminated one staff member.”
