David Hyatt takes over as the interim CEO of IU Health Starke Hospital today. Hyatt says that he is looking forward to the new opportunity and has some good changes in mind.
“I’ve been here at Starke Hospital for the past three years now. I really enjoy it, and love working with the people here. I’m just excited for this new opportunity, and making some good changes and taking Starke Hospital to the next level,” Hyatt said.
The hospital has assembled a group of 90 citizens from across the county to come in over the next two Thursdays to tell them what they expect from IU Health Starke Hospital.
“We’re tying this into our strategic planning process. A consultant will come in and seek the information, and I will receive the information back in report form. I really need to know where people want this hospital to go,” continued Hyatt.
Hyatt went on to say what he’s expecting from the exercise.
“We hear a lot of different requests for services. We have to be cognizant of what we can and can’t do. One of the things I personally believe is that if we can’t be the best at something, we probably shouldn’t be doing it. We benchmark across the nation, and if we can’t be the best at something, then we have to seriously figure out how we can be the best, and if we can’t maybe we should not provide the service,” Hyatt said.
