School Choice Indiana representatives will be hosting an information session to inform North Judson parents and families of educational options for their children through the state’s school voucher program, tax credit scholarships, tax deductions, and other forms of school choice. The session will be held at St. Peter Lutheran School on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
The meeting will provide parents with information on the school voucher program eligibility requirements, application process steps, and parents will also receive a list of schools participating in the program. It will also provide information on other programs such as the scholarship tax credit program. Information on charter schools and other public schools in the area will also be provided.
“We are thrilled that low- and middle-income families across Indiana now have an opportunity to choose a school that meets their children’s unique learning needs,” said Lindsey Brown, Executive Director of School Choice Indiana. “We expect more local families to take advantage of these programs in the 2012-2013 school year and we are happy to assist them with more information on their options. At the end of the day, we just believe that Hoosier families should be able to make the choice, and their children’s success shouldn’t be determined by the zip code they live in.”
These meetings aren’t the only venue School Choice Indiana is using to get information out. The organization also operates the MyChoiceInEd.com website, providing information about the voucher program online and allowing interested parents to find out if they are eligible for the vouchers and to see a list of participating schools.
In the 2011-2012 school year, the participation was capped at 7,500 students. This year, the program is open to 15,000 Hoosier students.
