A traffic stop led to the arrest of an intoxicated driver who was also found with a number of narcotics in his possession.
On Tuesday, Marshall County Dispatch received a report of a reckless driver traveling southbound on U.S. 31 from the Lakeville area. Shortly afterward, an officer conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle which he found was driving left of center. The driver, Ryan Stockberger, was given a field sobriety test which he subsequently failed.
Stockberger was arrested for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, but that wasn’t where it ended. A vehicle search turned up several drugs and paraphernalia, including marijuana and heroin. Other items that were found led police to believe that Stockberger may have been dealing in narcotics.
The suspect refused to submit to a chemical test and was later lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana with a Prior Conviction, and Possession of a Narcotic Drug With Intent To Deal.
A large sum of money believed to be drug-related was also seized.
