Three people were arrested in La Porte County as the result of an investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics within the city of La Porte. Police arrested the three suspects in a home in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue. The suspects have been identified as 21-year-old Vandaze Buchanan of Chicago, 23-year-old Brittany Chapman of Chicago, and 26-year-old Brett Tanksley of La Porte.
Buchanan faces two counts of Dealing a Schedule I Controlled Substance as Class A felonies, while Chapman is charged with two counts of Dealing a Schedule II Controlled Substance as Class A felonies. Both are housed in the La Porte County Jail with cash bonds of $15,005.
Tanksley has been charged with Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Class D felony, and is being held on a $605 bond.
Sheriff Michael Mollenhauer announced that these arrests go to show that the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, La Porte Police Department, and the Metro Operations Drug Task Force is targeting those who choose to distribute drugs in their community. The investigation remains open and ongoing, with additional anticipated arrests.
