A Winamac woman was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Pulaski County.
Early Thursday morning, a Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputy saw that the driver of a passenger car failed to initiate the turn signal as the vehicle turned onto U.S. 35 from a side street in Winamac.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a number of prescription drugs and a hypodermic needle. The driver, 40-year-old Melissa Gainer, was taken into custody.
As she was being booked into the Pulaski County Jail, a pill bottle was found in her bra that contained 40 additional pills.
Gainer has preliminary charges of Trafficking with an Inmate, Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Syringe and Possession of Paraphernalia.
