The Boston Marathon explosions have prompted first responders in Indiana to train if such an event were to happen on local soil.
Training was held Tuesday and will continue Wednesday and will entail how to react to the aftermath of an explosion similar to the incident at the marathon.
More than 30 students are participating in a medical preparedness and response to bombing incidents course at the Brownsburg Fire Territory. The course is designed to enhance the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of medical response and clinical care following a bombing incident.
This is just one of many training sessions the Indiana Department of Homeland Security provides year-round to firefighters, law enforcement, emergency management, and emergency medical services personnel.
