Register Now for Irish Pub 5K Run/Walk for Free T-Shirt

The Irish Pub in North Judson will soon be hosting their Second Annual Irish Pub 5K Run/Walk event, planned for Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. Jenny Craig of the pub told WKVI’s Lenny Dessauer that all donations from the event will go to the Hoosier Burn Camp, a summer camp experience for young men and women who have experienced injuries from burns. However, time is running out to sign up in time to get your free t-shirt. Craig said that only registrations that have been received by Saturday are eligible for a free shirt.

Craig said the pub is still looking for sponsors and participants of all ages to participate in the event. She explained that they have already gotten a number of local businesses to sign up as sponsors, including David’s Well Drilling, Bailey’s Discount Center, Coarse Grain Farms, Good Oil Company, and Jennifer Korous, CPA.

Last year, the event drew 32 participants; this year, however, Craig said they’re hoping to get as much attention as possible and hope to bring in at least 100 runners or walkers.

Craig said the event has already drawn some attention, and the North Judson Fire Department has expressed interest in sponsoring the 5K run/walk; Craig even said some firemen will be making the trek in their full gear. But she said they’re still looking for more community sponsorship, and anyone interested can contact her or the Irish Pub in North Judson.

“You can call me personally, (574) 386-6087, or you can contact the pub which is just right downtown, 706 E. Talmer in North Judson, and you can stop in any time. Most everybody there will know exactly what you’re talking about and talk to that person that’s working and they’ll get you some info too,” she said.

The Facebook page for the event also offers information regarding the 5K run/walk, including a signup sheet that can be printed off.
