The Four-County Drainage Board has voted to omit the 2013 general drain maintenance assessment for landowners within the Robbins Watershed.
Surveyor Dennis Estok said this will be reflected on the 2013 tax statement for residents in the Center, Davis, Oregon and Washington Townships.
“State statute says maintenance on watersheds like that you can only accumulate four times the amount of the assessment per year – how much it costs you to maintain that. Once you reach that certain amount in your funds, then you have to omit the assessments,” explained Estok.
The board will continue to address maintenance on the drain throughout the year and will review and evaluate the maintenance assessment in 2014.
