Energy was the topic of discussion during the West Central School Board meeting Thursday night. Superintendent Charles Mellon said the board signed a contract with Sure Energy.
“This is the company that will do the maintenance on our [wind] turbine. They’re out of Sandusky, Ohio,” said Mellon.
The board then went through the results of a recent energy audit.
“The bottom line there was that most of our Capital Project money we spent was to become more energy efficient or in safety issues. Through the audit, I think that proved to be so,” Mellon said.
The officials conducting the audit suggested some long-term energy efficiency goals for the corporation.
“The high school boilers are the oldest, yet they are fairly new. They suggested replacing those in about 15 years. All in all, it was a very good report for us. We have done a lot of things to become energy efficient and that report proved that for us,” Mellon said.
