Congresswoman Jackie Walorski is visiting with veterans throughout her district to highlight a valuable resource available to help them cut through the red tape in dealing with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
“Connecting our local veterans with their local VSO is one way at the local level that we can help make sure claims are filed properly, that they get all the information they need. There’s a resource, there’s an advocate here at the local level they can call,” said Walorski.
Walorski says Starke County Veterans Service Officer Gordon Richie can help veterans fill out their claims, answer their questions and serve as their advocate. He can be reached at (574) 772-9132. Richie encourages all veterans who live in Starke County to contact his office, even if they don’t receive VA benefits. He says having a copy of their file can help their family members obtain benefits and records later should the need arise. Walorski says Sharon Christophel in her Michiana office is also available to help constituents with VA issues. Her telephone number is (574) 204-2645.
