A brief foot pursuit with officers after a hit and run accident in Marshall County on Friday night landed a man in jail.
A hit and run accident was reported on U.S. 30 near Oak Road at approximately 6:23 p.m. ET. One vehicle involved in the incident continued traveling east on U.S. 30. A deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Jarrah Road north of 5th Road. The officer noted that the driver, identified as Omer Trent, appeared intoxicated.
While the officer was conducting an investigation, Trent fled the scene on foot. Two officers pursued Trent and he was tased to gain compliance. He was then taken into custody with no further issues.
Omer Trent was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Resisting Law Enforcement and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. He was given a cash bond of $1,500.
