In one incident, police responded to a home in the 1000 block of Harrison Street for an 18-year-old male who was found lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor. He was breathing and was transported by EMS to IU Health LaPorte Hospital for treatment. Various types of drug paraphernalia and evidence of prescription medication were found in the bathroom.
In the second incident, police responded to the IU Health LaPorte Hospital Emergency Room where two teen girls had reportedly overdosed on prescription medication. When interviewed by police, the pair allegedly said that they had ingested several different prescription medications belonging to a parent of one of the girls. The parent said the medication was stored away but not secured.
Both cases remain under investigation.
