Members of the Kankakee Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129 will be helping 60 students shop for needed items for the start of school year.
The annual Shop with a Cop event will be tomorrow at Kohl’s in Valparaiso. The organization has gone through the selection process and those students whose family doesn’t have the means to purchase needed school supplies will get that chance Sunday afternoon. The store will open early specifically for this endeavor and students can find clothes, backpacks, shoes or any other supplies needed for the start of the new school year.
FOP President Chris Kisela said they will be able to spend between $100 to $125 per child this year.
While this is event is almost in the books for this year, donations are always being accepted for this program to continue each year. For more information on how you can donate, call Chris Kisela at the Knox City Police Department at (574) 772-4122.
