Two Mishawaka residents were arrested by Plymouth officers on Wednesday afternoon in an alleged counterfeit operation.
Plymouth police received information that counterfeit checks were being manufactured and distributed at a motel in Plymouth. The suspects reportedly had been involved in counterfeiting checks in southern Michigan and in the northern Indiana area.
A search warrant was executed at the Economy Inn in Plymouth where police officers confiscated a laptop computer, printer, check paper, printed checks and other documents. The suspects were taken in for questioning and subsequently arrested.
Thirty-five-year-old Richard A. Rigsby was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of Forgery as a Class C Felony and Possession of a Controlled Substance as a Class D Felony while 33-year-old Rachel Hatton of Mishawaka has been booked on a preliminary charge of Forgery as a Class C Felony.
Their bonds have been set at $20,000 cash.
