The street paving project for the town of Culver will soon be underway as the town council last week awarded the bid for the project to Phend & Brown, Inc. Councilwoman Sally Ricciardi opened the bids during the meeting and read that E&B Paving, Phend & Brown, and Reith Riley submitted bids for the project.
E&B Paving submitted a bit for $186,820; Phend & Brown’s bid totaled $168,473; and the bid from Reith Riley came out to $244,262.
Councilwoman Ginny Munroe asked about possibly “sectioning out” the bid, and Utilities Superintendent Bob Porter explained that the contractors are aware that the town can omit sections, allowing them to do as much paving with the $103,472 available. Munroe made a motion to approve the bid from Phend and Brown pending a review by Town Manger David Schoeff, Porter and the town attorney. The motion passed unanimously.
