Governor Mike Pence will soon be announcing more than $9 million in grant funding that will go towards improving the safety of schools and school corporations throughout the state at Knox Community High School. Pence will visit the school on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. to announce the Secured School Safety Grant, a dedicated state grant fund that provides matching safety-related grants to school corporations and charter schools.
The Secured School Safety Grant Program is a dedicated state grant fund that provides matching grants to school corporations, charter schools, or coalitions of school corporations and/or charter schools applying jointly to not only employ a school resource officer and conduct a threat assessment, but to purchase equipment to restrict access to the school or to more quickly alert authorities.
While in town the governor will be meeting with school and local elected officials. However, this event is not open to the general public.
