Dollar General and Joe Gibbs racing have agreed to a 27-race sponsorship with Matt Kenseth and the No. 20 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2014. That’s 10 races more than in the 2013 season.
The No. 20 yellow and black Dollar General Toyota will be featured at the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Talladega Speedway in May, Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, Richmond International Speedway in September, the first race of the Chase at Chicagoland Speedway, and Charlotte Motor Speedway in October, plus four other races in the season.
“Having the talent and passion in a driver like Matt and the way he represents our brand is a dream come true for a sponsor,” commented Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and chief executive officer. “The excitement and professionalism that Matt brings to the sport is exceptional and one of this year’s highlights for me has been watching him celebrate in Victory Lane seven times. On behalf of the Dollar General team, let’s go racing in 2014!”
Matt Kenseth was in the hunt for the championship this year, but fell short at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He had seven wins on the season, the most of any driver in the 2013 Sprint Cup season.
“Dollar General has a tremendous enthusiasm for our sport, and as a driver, it’s great to have such a supportive sponsor behind you,” said Matt Kenseth, “In our first year together, the No. 20 team had such an unbelievable season. I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the track and representing Dollar General again in 2014.”
